Diesel Rises a Half-Cent to $4.132
Diesel rose 0.5 cent to $4.132 a gallon, its 10th straight increase, while gasoline also continued to rise, the Department of Energy reported in its weekly survey.
Gasoline rose 0.4 cent to $3.847, also its 10th straight gain, DOE said Monday following its weekly survey of filling stations.
The diesel increase leaves trucking’s main fuel 27 cents over the same week last year, while gas is 18.6 cents higher than a year ago.
Diesel has jumped 48.4 cents in the past 10 weeks, following 12 weeks of declines. Three weeks ago, it pushed past $4 a gallon for the first time in three months.
Each week, DOE surveys about 350 diesel filling stations to compile a national snapshot average price.
