Omnitracs to Offer Drivewyze Weigh-Station Bypass on MCP Units

Omnitracs said it will soon offer weigh-station bypass services from Drivewyze Inc. on its mobile computing platforms.

Through this integration, drivers will be able to bypass weigh stations up to 98% of the time, depending on the operator’s safety scores, the technology suppliers said in a Dec. 2 joint announcement.

Drivewyze’s PreClear bypass service, which is available at weigh stations and mobile inspection sites throughout 35 states, uses GPS and the Internet to add transponder-like functionality to electronic logging devices and other in-cab technologies.

“With this innovative solution, Omnitracs customers no longer have to rely on separate, cumbersome transponder-based systems if they want to leverage their safety records to reduce the amount of time their trucks needlessly spend at weigh stations,” said Andrew Kelley, Omnitracs’ vice president of corporate development.

Omnitracs said it will begin rolling out the Drivewyze bypass service in early 2016, starting with its MCP200 and MCP110 platforms. It also plans to offer the service for the MCP50 soon thereafter.
