Ridge Corp. Buys Freight Wing

Ridge Corp., which makes fiber reinforced thermoplastics for the transportation industry, said it has acquired trailer-skirt manufacturer Freight Wing. Terms were not disclosed.

Freight Wing, Seattle, was founded in 2003 by Sean Graham, the company’s president. Graham will join Ridge with his team of nine, Ridge said in a statement, adding that it has acquired 100% of Freight Wing’s stock.

Freight Wing introduced its AeroFlex side skirt in 2008, after finding that side skirts and gap fairings were an effective trailer aerodynamic device. Its skirts are sold and installed by Carrier Transicold dealers.

Freight Wing introduced a 2012 version of its side skirt at a reduced price, and the company said the units can pay for themselves in as few as 35,000 miles, Ridge said.

“We have the capacity to provide Freight Wing customers with product improvement and ample supply and quality now and into the future,” said Nick Grandominico, Ridge’s vice president of operations.
