NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Transtex, a developer of trailer aerodynamic solutions, announced the acquisition of a leading manufacturer of auxiliary power units.

At American Trucking Associations’ Management Conference & Exhibition, Transtex’s leadership explained the acquisition of DClimate Inc. is meant to help optimize efficiency and driver comfort industrywide.

“By integrating DClimate’s [electric] APUs into our portfolio, we wanted to reinforce our commitment to reducing emission, improving efficiencies and delivering real value to our customers,” Mathieu Desjardins, Transtex president, told reporters Oct. 13 at the conference. “Beyond this, we aim to transform the industry’s perception of electric APUs.”

Specifically, DClimate is meant to advance Transtex’s operations to address concerns in the marketplace as well as improve sustainability goals industrywide. The Indiana-based firm also pointed to DClimate’s promotion of high-efficiency heating, ventilation and air conditioning programs with patented battery management systems. The company noted that the EPA SmartWay-verified DClimate technology meets federal and California emissions requirements.

Martin Duffy, DClimate CEO, focused on potential benefits, such as fuel savings and emissions reduction, stemming from minimizing truck engine idling. As he put it, “Joining Transtex, an industry leader, marks a significant milestone for our team of innovative problem solvers. With our mission to deliver APU solutions that optimize fleet efficiency and maximize driver comfort, we’re excited to amplify our reach.”

“Decreasing the truck engine’s runtime extends service intervals and minimizes engine wear and tear. This approach reduces the risk of premature failure of costly engine components due to excessive idling and can greatly enhance trade-in value,” according to background information the company provided. “The system prioritizes driver comfort while simultaneously reducing environmental impact and operating costs. This focus on providing a high-quality driver experience contributes to driver satisfaction and retention, which is crucial for the success of any fleet operation.”
