The price of diesel remained essentially flat the past week, dipping one-tenth of a cent to $2.427 a gallon, the Energy Information Administration reported Aug. 17.

The average price of diesel increased for the first time in four weeks, inching up four-tenths of a cent nationally to $2.428 per gallon on Aug. 10, according to the Energy Information Administration’s weekly report.

Diesel fell for the third consecutive week, by three-tenths of a cent to $2.424 a gallon.

Diesel fell for the second consecutive week, by six-tenths of a cent to $2.427 a gallon from $2.433, the Energy Information Administration reported July 27.

A program meant to improve air quality by reducing diesel emissions was included in the annual defense authorization bill the Senate passed July 23.

After six consecutive weeks of increases, the national retail price of diesel fuel fell by five-tenths of a cent to $2.433 a gallon from $2.438 the previous week.

The nationwide average price of diesel fuel was nearly flat the past week, according to U.S. Energy Information Administration data released July 13.

The national average retail price of diesel rose for the fifth consecutive week, up seven-tenths of a cent to $2.437 a gallon.

The national average retail price of diesel rose for the fourth consecutive week, half a cent to $2.43 a gallon, the Energy Information Administration reported June 29.
