Technology distributor Ingram Micro Inc. said it has agreed to purchase BrightPoint Inc., a provider of logistics services to the wireless industry, for about $840 million, the companies announced in a joint statement July 2.

Investor Wood Creek Capital Management, along with Bowman Sales and Equipment Inc. and Milestone Trailer Leasing, last week bought 27,000 U.S.-based trailers from GE Capital, continuing the transformation of the highway leasing market.

New trailer orders fell 19.7% to 14,199 in May from a year earlier, ACT Research reported, but trailer manufacturers said backlogs remain strong and suggested that fleets soon will need to upgrade equipment.
