When the largest U.S. intermodal event returns to its roots in Atlanta this weekend, Intermodal Expo attendees will be talking about an industry in which steadily growing domestic truck/rail shipments are stealing the spotlight from slow-growing international cargo.

U.S. intermodal traffic rose 4.6% for the week ended Oct. 29 from a year ago, the Association of American Railroads said.

Logistics provider Secor Group, Washington, D.C., announced it has acquired Vision Relocation Group, Chantilly, Va.

Logistics firm Expeditors International of Washington said Tuesday its third-quarter profit rose 11% to $107 million, or 50 cents a share, from $96 million, or 44 cents, a year ago.

TransForce Inc.’s third-quarter net income declined to C$19.3 million, or 20 cents a share, from C$24.7 million, or 26 cents, a year earlier, the Montreal-based trucking and logistics company said Tuesday.

Echo Global Logistics said its third-quarter profit grew 30.2% to $3.4 million, or 15 cents per share, from $2.6 million, or 12 cents, a year ago.

Consumer confidence rose this month, according to the Thomson Reuters/University of Michigan consumer sentiment index released Friday.

Pacer International on Thursday reported higher third-quarter profit and raised its full-year earnings outlook.
