TransForce, DHL Reach Deal on Domestic Canadian Logistics Operations

TransForce Inc. and DHL Express Canada agreed to enter a 10-year agreement under which TransForce will buy the assets of DHL Express’ domestic Canadian business, the companies said.

TransForce said it will take over operations through Loomis Express, a newly established TransForce subsidiary.

The deal will allow DHL Express Canada to focus exclusively on the Canadian international shipping segment, TransForce said in a statement.

Loomis Express and DHL Express Canada will provide Canadian businesses with international and domestic suite of logistics and shipping services.

The transaction, which is subject to regulatory approval, is expected to close by the end of May, TransForce said.

DHL said in 2008 it was ending its U.S. domestic services to focus on its international shipping business.

TransForce is ranked No. 14 on the Transport Topics 100 listing of U.S. and Canadian for-hire carriers. DHL USA, separate from the Canadian unit, is ranked No. 3 on the TT 100.
