CSX Corp. reported second-quarter net income rose 1.5% to $529 million, or 53 cents per share, helped by revenue increases in the intermodal, chemicals and agricultural products freight.

U.S. rail intermodal traffic increased 10.5% in the week ended July 5 compared with the same week last year, the Association of American Railroads reported.

Chassis-reservation website Chassisfinder.com said it has developed the first app to allow truck drivers and logistics companies to find and reserve chassis.

Logistics software firms Accellos and HighJump Software have merged under the name HighJump, the companies said. Terms were not disclosed.

The Canadian Trucking Alliance said it opposes a U.S. Department of Agriculture proposal that would substantially raise the Animal Plant and Health Inspection Service fees imposed on trucks crossing the border.

The Conference Board’s index of U.S. consumer confidence increased to 85.2 in June from 82.2 a month earlier, the New York-based private research group said.
