CSX Corp. said Monday its fourth-quarter profit jumped 42% on higher shipments from auto manufacturers and other industrial shippers.

Canadian National Railway Co. reached a contract deal with the Canadian Auto Workers union Monday and the union dropped its threat to strike Tuesday, Reuters reported.

Truckload carrier USA Truck said it will fit almost all of its trailers with a new tracking system.

Less-than-truckload carrier Southeastern Freight Lines, Lexington, S.C., opened a new logistics division Jan. 4 to provide shippers with services in dry van, refrigerated and flatbed truckload, expedited delivery, intermodal drayage, brokerage, air freight and distribution.
